Bruqe APAC
Job No.: BRQ-APAC-MEL-SFA-017
Location: Melbourne, Australia
Region: Bruqe APAC
Team: Strategy & Foresight
Level: Associate
Employment Type: Full Time
Reporting To: Engagement Lead, APAC
The Role
Bruqe is seeking a Strategic Foresight Associate to help clients make better long-term decisions in environments defined by uncertainty, transition, and systemic change.
You will support engagements that examine how markets, technologies, policy, economic conditions, and stakeholder behaviour may interact across plausible futures. The role combines structured research, scenario development, systems thinking, and strategic analysis to identify choices that remain robust as uncertainty resolves.
What You Will Do
-
Support the framing of strategic questions involving long-horizon uncertainty, transition risk, growth, resilience, or competitive positioning.
-
Research and synthesise market, technology, policy, economic, and societal signals relevant to client decisions.
-
Develop scenario narratives, assumptions, uncertainty matrices, and early-warning indicators.
-
Contribute to systems maps and causal frameworks that identify dependencies, incentives, feedback loops, and second-order effects.
-
Assess the implications of plausible futures for strategy, capital allocation, operating models, partnerships, and capability requirements.
-
Prepare clear, evidence-led client materials for senior leadership discussions and decision forums.
-
Contribute to Bruqe’s foresight methodologies, knowledge assets, and cross-sector intelligence.
What You Will Bring
-
An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in economics, business, public policy, international relations, engineering, sustainability, technology, or a related discipline.
-
Experience in strategy consulting, research, policy analysis, corporate planning, investment analysis, or a similarly analytical environment.
-
Demonstrated interest in strategic foresight, scenario planning, systems thinking, geopolitical change, technological innovation, or market transitions.
-
Strong research, synthesis, and written communication skills, with the ability to make complex ideas accessible and decision-relevant.
-
Comfort working across disciplines and engaging thoughtfully with uncertainty rather than relying on single-point forecasts.
-
A rigorous, curious, and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
What Success Looks Like
You will help clients move from broad uncertainty to disciplined strategic choices. Your work will identify the forces that could materially change an outcome, clarify the implications of different futures, and support actions that preserve resilience and strategic flexibility.
